The Director General of State Environmental Protection Administration of China in charge of environmental impact assessment matters, Mr Zhu Xingxiang, the Permanent Secretary for Environment, Transport and Works (Environment) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Mr K. K. Kwok, and the Chairman of the Hong Kong Advisory Council on the Environment, Professor K. C. Lam, jointly launched a new web-baesd Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Knowledge Centre for Hong Kong on 6 December 2005.

The bilingual web-based SEA knowledge centre , which was developed by Environmental Protection Department of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, is accessible and readable for practitioners in Mainland China, Hong Kong SAR and the rest of the world.  It would be widely publicized in Mainland China through our cooperation with the State Environmental Protection Administration of China.

This new web-based SEA knowledge centre has included the interactive edition of the Hong Kong SEA Manual, latest information on relevant SEA matters, SEA reports and references, and hyperlinks to many other related international SEA resources and websites. The new web-based SEA knowledge centre would provide a useful network and platform for international collaboration, exchanges and sharing, as well as for promoting the application of SEA.
