The Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology, Mr John Tsang, will depart for Fuzhou tomorrow (May 25) to attend the second Pan-Pearl River Delta (PRD) Provincial Capital City Mayors' Forum.

Mr Tsang will attend the opening ceremony on Thursday and will address the Mayors' Forum on how to strengthen the economic synergy among provincial capitals in the Pan-PRD region -- as well as fostering the development of economic zone on the west coast of the Taiwan Strait and economic and trade cooperation with Taiwan.

Together with representatives of the nine provincial capitals and the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), Mr Tsang will attend a television forum on May 27 and engage in interactive dialogue with other guests of the forum.
 
The Mayors' Forum is jointly organised by the municipal people's governments of nine Pan-PRD provincial capital cities including Guangzhou, Fuzhou, Nanchang, Changsha, Nanning, Haikou, Chengdu, Guiyang and Kunming, as well as the China Association of Mayors. Representatives of the Hong Kong SAR Government will attend as special guests.

The SAR delegation includes representatives from the Commerce, Industry and Technology Bureau, Constitutional Affairs Bureau, Office of the Government of the Hong Kong SAR in Beijing and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

Mr Tsang will return to Hong Kong Friday afternoon.
