A consultancy report on "Socio-Economic-Political Trends in Pan-Pearl River Delta (Pan-PRD) Region Studies" has been released by the Central Policy Unit (CPU) today (November 25).
The Report collates information and analyses the socio-economic and political trends of the provinces and autonomous region in the Pan-PRD, including Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, Hainan, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou and Sichuan.
A spokesman for the CPU said, "The Report is to fill in the current missing gap in socio-economic data and to provide analysis of development trends of individual provinces / autonomous region in the Pan-PRD area."
It has been widely recognised that there is a lack of systematic socio-economic and other development-related information about the Pan-PRD area, except for Guangdong and Macao, in Hong Kong. CPU has thus recently commissioned the consultancy study on a trial basis for a period of 12 months. This report is the first of this series of study.
The Pan-PRD Regional Cooperation Framework Agreement co-signed by government leaders of the nine provinces/autonomous region and the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions in June has provided excellent opportunities for cooperation within the Pan-PRD area.
"CPU has been working closely with different sectors of the community to promote better understanding on the new Pan-PRD regional cooperation concept.
"The information contained in the report released today will be of interest to the business, academic and other sectors of the community," the spokesman said.
This series of study reports will be uploaded onto the CPU website in the coming year for public browsing.
