The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Donald Tsang, will attend the opening ceremony of the "Pan-Pearl River Delta (PRD) Provincial Capital City Mayors' Forum" in Guangzhou on Thursday (September 16), a government spokesman said today (September 14).
The forum is jointly organised by the nine PRD provincial capital cities. They are Fuzhou, Nanchang, Changsha, Guangzhou, Nanning, Haikou, Chengdu, Guiyang and Kunming. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government (HKSARG) and Macao Special Administrative Region Government have been invited to send representatives to attend as special guests.
The forum will open on Thursday afternoon, to be followed by the formal session the next morning. The mayors will address the forum on the theme on how to make full use of the advantages and synergies of these cities, Hong Kong and Macao in the promotion of co-operation and development of the Pan-PRD region. Secretary for Constitutional Affairs, Mr Stephen Lam, will speak at the forum.
Secretary for Constitutional Affairs, Mr Stephen Lam, will also attend the opening ceremony of the Guangzhou Fair which will be held concurrently during the same period on Thursday morning. The Office of the Government Chief Information Officer will take part in a thematic exhibition on electronic government application and exchange to showcase the achievements of the HKSARG in e-government and information infrastructure.
Government Chief Information Officer, Mr Alan Wong; Director, Hong Kong Economic and Trade Affairs, Guangdong, Mr Peter Leung; Deputy Secretary for Constitutional Affairs, Ms Grace Lui and a few other related officers will also attend these events.
