To tie in with the commissioning of the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Western Corridor, the Government of the HKSAR is building a new control point at Shekou, Shenzhen. The consensus reached with the Mainland authorities is to implement co-location arrangement for both passenger and cargo clearance at the new control point, which will streamline procedures and save passengers' time. Specifically, with co-location, coach passengers will only have to get on and off once instead of twice in going through clearance procedures of the two sides. At present, the construction works are in progress and expected to complete in the latter half of 2006.
